Stryker Systems Maintainer (MOS 91S) Description / Major Duties:

Many Army missions depend on the reliability of the Stryker family of vehicles for not only fire power, but for the safe transportation of troops and evacuation of injured personnel. The Stryker Systems Maintainer works as part of a team to maintain the Stryker family of vehicles and keep the vehicles and the operating systems running smoothly. Some of those vehicles include the M1128 Mobile Gun System, the M1132 Engineer Support Vehicle, the M1133 Medical Evacuation Vehicle, and the M1135 NBC Recon Vehicle.

Skills required of a Stryker Systems Maintainer (MOS 91S):

  • Diagnoses and troubleshoots malfunctions
  • Performs field and sustainment level maintenance on various vehicle systems to include the suspension systems, steering systems, hydraulic systems, fire extinguisher/suppression systems, vehicular mounted armament.
  • Conduct in-process inspection and troubleshooting procedures during repairs and overhaul of engines, transmissions and power train assemblies.
  • Supervises and provides technical guidance to junior grade Soldiers in the accomplishment of their duties.
  • Supervises compliance with shop safety program and use, maintenance and security of hand and shop power tools.
  • Perform equipment classification inspections and annotate and submit appropriate forms and documents.
  • erforms battlefield damage and assessment and repair.

 

Training

Training for a Stryker Systems Maintainer requires 17 weeks of Advanced Individual Training and on-the-job instruction, including inspection and repair of Stryker engines and systems. Part of this time is spent in the classroom and part in the field. Some of the skills you'll learn are:

Engine disassembly and repair
Repair of hydraulic, fuel and electrical systems
Repair and maintenance of armament systems

 

Helpful Skills for MOS 91S:

An interest in mathematics and shop mechanics
An interest in engine mechanics
An ability to use hand and power tools
